Classic and vintage Vespa servicing

PAST PROJECTS: Vespa PX

Customers Restoration

Customers scooter. Vespa PX200E disc 2000 model in Blu Cobalto 251. Requiring full rebuild. Some welding required to the LH tunnel area, and usual top shock mount area. New genuine mudguard, brake hose, headset casting & top, and many other new parts required. The speedo required repair as there was a broken bracket holding the fuel gauge unit in place.

Completed Restoration

Vespa PX200E 1983 Y-reg mk1 crossover. Fully UK registered. This was a late 90's Italian import that lay around unregistered for years. It does have its original autolube engine. A fabulous crossover mk1 with 20mm forks, panel locks, autolube, later toggle switches. Final specification includes a Malossi Sport 210 cylinder (no crankcase porting), BGM touring crank(BGM031800G), our fast flow Si26 carb, and SIP Road 2 exhaust. Painted in Piaggio Metallic Azzurro Fiordo 5/6.

Completed Restoration

Customers scooter. Vespa PX200E disc 2000 model. Requiring strip, repaint, and rebuild. The scooter was in excellent condition to start with, so no welding required at all. In Platinum grey 686. Custom touches to the hubs and side panel and mudguard insets. King & Queen seat, and vintage rear light.

Completed Restoration

Vespa PX200E Elestart 1997 R-reg. Requiring complete restoration. This scooter has a new Piaggio E/S autolube engine as per original fitment. As for the bodywork, blasting, etch prime and dry build checks are complete.  All other panels are prepared up to etch prime stage. Just the usual areas to deal with on this one, swelling in the rear shock mount mount area revealing rot in the structure underneath, and some rot under the rearmost floor strut, together with some reforming of the edge gutter at the rear strut position. Rot has been cut out of the frame and repairs complete. All bodywork now finished in 336 Enigma Green. Restoration complete.

Completed Restoration

Vespa PX200E 1982 X-reg. Requiring complete restoration. Another example of a badly done floor replacement. Legshields are quite good but have many drilled holes for crashbars etc. Joining a new floor to the existing legshield is never very tidy, and with the previous complete panel replacement being such a success (see below), it makes sense to remove the floor & legshields and replace with new panel.  New panel now fitted including floor runner dry fit. Etch prime and dry build checks are complete.  Assembly complete. Scooter MOTd & delivered.

Completed Restoration

Customers Vespa PX125E 1983 A-reg. Cross-over model. Requiring complete restoration. Previously had its floor replaced....badly. Legshields not too good either, underseal everywhere, a painters nightmare. Decision made to remove floor & legshields and replace with new panel. Forks broken at mudguard mounting, so NOS fork leg sourced from Italy (rare crossover type).  The new floor & legshield panel had to be corrected around the edge gutters, and holes added for the floor runners, badge, wiring junction box, and stand spring S-clip. The panel would also be primed before spot welded into position.

PX200E 1984 Restoration

Vespa PX200E 1984 A-reg. Cross-over model. A very late example having all the usual mk1.5 features such as 20mm forks, locking sidepanels, EFL type legshield badge, EFL type switches, autolube, in addition this one has EFL type cut out under the horn cover, dual scale speedo, EFL type gearbox, and EFL type crank bearing retention method.

The colour will be P5/4 metallic blue unless pre ordered.

The bodywork has arrived back from the blasters revealing some problem areas to the floor and legshields. The rear body is in very good shape. The bad areas are mainly poor previous repairs. These have been cut out, ready for new metal to be let in. The top legshield brace required detachment from the panel, straightening, then re-spot welding back to the legshield. The usual front right hand corner gutter needed forming back into shape, as did the rear left hand gutter. The usual rear suspension mount area required attention too. All this is no problem, and this frame is be back to its correct shape. Restoration is now complete.  UK registration applied for. Now sold.

 Completed Restorations

VESPA PX200E 1985 B-reg. UK scooter with 5050miles, only four owners. Very solid, no welding required. Totally complete, original engine is in superb condition with an untouched sealing pad. Restored to our usual standards.

Colour: Piaggio P1/2 Rosso Federale.

Now sold.

Completed Restorations

Vespa PX200E 1983 mk1 cross-over in Piaggio Metallic Blue P5/7. UK registered from new, with all correct mk1.5 features such as autolube engine, later rocker type switches, 20mm forks, internal locking side panels, and EFL-type legshield badge. The ultimate mk1. Fitted with an original Veglia Italian MPH speedometer. The only deviation from factory specification is the SIP Road 2 exhaust system, which allows the engine to perform better in modern traffic.
