Classic and vintage Vespa servicing

PAST PROJECTS: Pre-PX

Customers Restoration

Vespa Rally 200 1978, Ducati electronic version. Very original and complete 2-owner UK scooter, with all the important parts such as 044 legshield trim, MPH speedometer, headlight, fan cover, all factory body panels, and even the fork link cover survived. Corrosion to the front LH floor area, sidepanels, toolbox, all cut out and replaced. The owner requested it to have 12V DC instead of original 6V DC. This was achieved with a newly designed wiring loom and modern regulator-rectifier, and rebuilt horn. The system now operates as per original with parking lights and horn operating whilst the engine is off. Painted in its very rare Verde 380 original colour. It even has a fabulous registration number ending '777S'. A truly rare & unique Vespa.

Customers Restoration

Vespa 150 GL 1965 with a Douglas frame number, featuring dealer added colour to the side panels and mudguard which was typical in that period. Very original but very rotten around the tunnel and floor areas, requiring complete restoration in its original colours. It will have a 12V regulated AC conversion using PX stator and flywheel. Restoration now complete.

  • Customers Restoration

Vespa 150 Super 1972, very original but very rotten around the rear shock mount area, and along the centre of the floor.  Now fully restored. Featuring a Pinasco 177 cylinder to suit the 2-port engine, cosa clutch, PX type ignition system and regulated 12V AC electrical system. Paintwork in BMW-Mini Metallic Moonwalk Grey B71.

    Completed Restorations

Vespa Rally 200 1975 P-reg. UK scooter, one of my own scooters. I originally built this scooter in 1998, it lay around dismantled since being purchased from the Ipswich area in 1993. I used it to attend many rallies in the late nineties right up to around 2010 when I switched to another scooter. The frame is straight, with a very good floor, only needing the attention of the welding torch around the top shock mounting area, and just below the rear badge areas, both common problem areas and a straightforward repair here at RTE. This scooter is complete with all the hard to find parts such as original MPH Veglia speedo, 044 legshield trim in excellent condition, it has its original toolbox with correct 'double barrel' lock and key, correct and original fuel tank, original headlight having been rechromed and resilvered, new original Piaggio mudguard sourced from Greece at great expense, and original set of side panels. The colour is 870 Rosso Tenerife as shown in the introductory advertising literature for the Rally 200 . Now sold.

    Completed Restorations

VESPA Rally 200 1974. UK scooter from new. Button stop type. Complete with all important parts such as 044 legshield trim (mint condition), original fuel tank, original toolbox, side panels, and mudguard, all in fabulous condition, original mph speedo showing less than 7000miles. This scooter also has its original femsatronic engine with a sealing pad (inlet port) in untouched condition.

Rather than depend on the 47 year-old ignition system and 6V lights, it has a modern 12V DC system, still using the original engine, to give reliability and safety with a car-like horn. (the horn used is a 12V DC version of the original one) The 12V battery fits neatly into the existing battery box.

The colour is Piaggio Blu Cina (China Blue) 402.

    Now sold.
